Vikings move on from a recent draft pick in trade that raises eyebrows

It's been almost two years since the last time we saw cornerback Mekhi Blackmon play in a meaningful game for the Minnesota Vikings, and now that's not going to happen anytime soon, as the team has decided to trade the veteran cornerback to the Indianapolis Colts.

On Monday, the Vikings announced that they have traded Blackmon to the Colts in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.

With the deal on Monday and the recent trades made involving Harrison Phillips and Sam Howell, Minnesota has accumulated additional draft selections in the fifth and sixth rounds in 2026, and additional picks in the sixth and seventh rounds of the 2027 NFL Draft during the last few days, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
