Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was arrested over the summer in DWI case

Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was arrested May 21 in Chanhassen on suspicion of drunken driving.

Edwards, the 49-year-old Vikings assistant coach, was pulled over and charged with three misdemeanors, including fourth-degree DWI, after registering a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of 0.08. As part of a plea deal, Edwards pleaded guilty to misdemeanor careless driving Aug. 30 and was sentenced to one year of probation and a $1,000 fine.

The arrest comes to light as the Vikings are in the middle of trying to clean up their public image, which has taken a hit over the years.
