MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings spent the better part of free agency trying to upgrade an offensive line that was racked by injuries and saddled with ineffective play in 2015. They signed Alex Boone on the first day of the league year, gave a one-year contract to Andre Smith and planned to build their offensive line out of a training camp competition between 16 linemen, seven of which were in at least their fifth season in the league.
It's October, and the Vikings are once again trying to upgrade a line racked by injuries and saddled with ineffective play.
