EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings players selected quarterback Teddy Bridgewater -- whose 2016 season was ended by a catastrophic knee injury Aug. 30 -- as the team's winner of this year's Ed Block Courage Award.
Since 1984, the award has honored one player from each team by recognizing a nominee who shows commitment to sportsmanship and courage, either by overcoming adversity or setting an example in the community. Team winners are recognized at a ceremony in Baltimore each March.
"It’s an honor to win this award,” Bridgewater said in a statement. “Especially as my teammates made the selection.
