Andre Patterson
The Vikings named defensive line coach Andre Patterson and linebackers coach Adam Zimmer as co-defensive coordinators for the 2020 season.
They replace George Edwards, whose contract expires.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, who is Adam Zimmer’s father, calls the defensive plays for the team.
The move gives the younger Zimmer a promotion after six years working with the Vikings’ linebackers, while rewarding Patterson, whose long relationship with Mike Zimmer helped shape much of the Vikings’ defensive line philosophy over the years.
The team also confirmed the hiring of assistant head coach Gary Kubiak as offensive coordinator; he steps in for Kevin Stefanski, who is the new coach of the Cleveland Browns.
