Adrian Peterson pins weekend illness on shrimp, not midflight tobacco mishap

Following Adrian Peterson's sudden illness that led to a questionable listing for Sunday's game, FOX broadcasters offered a guffaw- and grossout-inducing explanation before kickoff, saying he'd accidentally swallowed chewing tobacco during a bumpy flight.

The story quickly made the rounds and spurred a number of jokes (OK, mainly just one). The only trouble? The running back said after Minnesota's win that it didn't happen.

First, the initial report:

Per FOX broadcast, Adrian Peterson swallowed his chew on a bumpy team flight Saturday. Vomited upon arrival. Hence, injury report downgrade.

The consensus reaction:

Chris Myers says Adrian Peterson was sick because he swallowed his chewing tobacco when the plane dropped altitude.
