The Minnesota Vikings handled their kick and punt returner roles very questionably a season ago. After Marcus Sherels signed with the New Orleans Saints in free agency, the Vikings went with a rotation at the position.
All throughout mini-camps and the preseason Minnesota kept trying new guys at the position with very little success. They eventually settled on a combination of Ameer Abdullah, Chad Beebe, and Mike Hughes as their primary return men.
Beebe got hurt early last season and that led the Vikings to bring back Sherels who had since been released by the Saints.
