Minnesota Vikings: We "respect and understand" NFL's process regarding Adrian Peterson

In this Vikings news update, the end of the legal process surrounding running back Adrian Peterson and accusations of child abuse doesn't mean that his professional status will clarifiy itself any time soon.

Per Josh Alper of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "Peterson remains on the Commissioner-Exempt list while the league reviews the case under the personal conduct policy. The league reportedly intends to move quickly in that review, although not quickly enough for the NFLPA’s liking, and the Vikings released a statement on Monday saying that they’re waiting for the NFL to act to make any decisions about Peterson’s return to the team."

That statement was deliberately neutral in tone, maintaining the team's stance of remaining unobtrusive in the process surrounding their embattled halfback.

“In regards to Adrian Peterson’s status with the Minnesota Vikings, at this time his potential reinstatement is under NFL guidelines. As an organization, we respect and understand the league’s process. In the interim, our focus is on the team and preparing for this weekend’s game against the Bears.”

We will likely have to wait until after the league makes a decision on Peterson's status for the Vikings to step forward and reveal their plan going forward for the long-time face of the franchise.
