Minnesota Vikings "Gathering Information" On Adrian Peterson Indictment

In this breaking Vikings news and rumors update, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Texas for reckless or negligent injury to a child, which means in short that he will be required to turn himself over to authorities in the area.

As is to be expected, Peterson's status for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots is seriously in doubt. The Vikings chose not to address that in a short statement on Friday, instead keeping their message concise about the developing nature of the case:

“The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin.”

Per Josh Alper of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the team is meeting to determine his playing status for Sunday. Given the nature of the indictment and the current atmosphere in the NFL, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Vikings opted to go without Peterson this Sunday but there’s a long time for more developments to arise between now and kickoff."

Understandably, football is likely to be the furthest thing from most people's minds at this point, especially with very little public knowledge about the incident that led to Peterson's indictement.

Stay tuned to Chat Sports for more on this developing story as additional information is made available.
