Minnesota United made its long-anticipated first game at Allianz Field on Saturday, April 13, 2019. After claiming three wins in their first five road games, the Loons entered their new home to face struggling New York City FC. With four draws and a loss to start the year, NYCFC was struggling in the post-David Villa era. Since losing to the Loons in September of 2018, NYCFC had won just two of its last 11 games.
