Twins: Tom Brunansky knows his balls, strikes ... and don't umpires know it

You might consider Tom Brunansky an unpaid contributor to Twins radio broadcasts.

Through the magic of a boom mike placed near the dugout, the voice of the Twins' hitting coach can be heard providing frequent in-game commentary and exhortation.

Mostly Brunansky is encouraging his hitters with "C'mon, Babe" and other classic baseball variations. But there also are times when the former all-star outfielder and World Series champion directs his barbs at the plate umpire.

He must use particular discretion in this area lest he be ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

"Bruno does a good job holding umpires and players accountable and making sure they bear down in certain situations," Twins second baseman Brian Dozier said.
