Twins to hire former division rival as new hitting coach under Derek Shelton

The Minnesota Twins are hiring Keith Beauregard to replace Matt Borgschulte as the team's hitting coach, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune's Bobby Nightengale. Additionally, Trevor Amicone and Rayden Sierra are returning as assistant hitting coaches, per Nightengale.

Beauregard, 42, spent the last three seasons as one of the Detroit Tigers' hitting coaches along with Michael Brdar before parting ways with the organization. Brdar will remain as Detroit's hitting coach next season.

Last season, the Tigers ranked in the middle third of Major League Baseball in batting average (.247), on-base percentage (.316) and slugging percentage (413).
