PITTSBURGH -- Twins right-hander Ervin Santana, serving an 80-game steroid suspension, reported last week to extended spring training at the CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.
Eligible to return no earlier than July 4 at Kansas City, Santana has been keeping himself in shape at his offseason home in Clearwater, Fla. Reporting to extended spring training will give the veteran starter a chance to ramp his preparations back up in advance of a rehab assignment that could last as long as 30 days.
Twins general manager Terry Ryan was expected to head to Fort Myers this week for his annual scouting trip to watch the Class A Miracle and those in extended spring camp.
