MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins badly needed Jake Odorizzi to deliver a strong outing and eat some innings on Saturday. The 28-year-old righty gave Minnesota that, and more.
Odorizzi produced an efficient six-inning performance to help the Twins to a 3-1 win over the Reds at Target Field that snapped an eight-game losing streak.
Saturday marked the Twins' ninth game in as many days, and the team entered the afternoon with a depleted bullpen. Minnesota needed five relief pitchers during Friday's 15-9 loss to the Reds and made a series of roster moves over the previous week to get some fresh arms in its bullpen.
