Twins: Rookie Rosario homers, Gibson pitches well in 13-0 win over A's

Eddie Rosario made Twins history, Eduardo Escobar had five runs batted in, and Kyle Gibson pitched six shutout innings as Minnesota crushed Oakland 13-0 on Wednesday night at Target Field.

The rookie Rosario became the first Twins player to hit a home run on his first major league pitch. And Rosario's homer in the third inning was enough to buoy Gibson, who scattered four hits and increased his scoreless streak to 17 innings over three starts.

Escobar went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and a two-run double in the seventh.

Kennys Vargas' three-run home run to the upper deck in right-center in the eighth inning made Wednesday's game the largest margin of victory for the Twins this season.
