Twins center fielder Jordan Schafer was "very optimistic" about being available to play as soon as Thursday night after spraining the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
Schafer was injured after slipping while trying to take second following an overthrow on his bunt single in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday. He stayed in and made it back to first on two straight pickoff throws before Twins manager Paul Molitor sent in pinch runner Shane Robinson.
"(My knee) just kind of gave out on me, then kind of locked up," Schafer said. "I was trying to plant there to go to second.
