Twins: Brian Dozier wins 'Hustle' award

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- For the second straight year Twins all-star second baseman Brian Dozier was named winner of the team's Heart and Hustle Award.

Presented by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, it is baseball's only award voted on by former players.

Dozier, who homered last week in his first All-Star Game appearance, has played all but 17 innings of the Twins season through 92 games. He has started all but one game while leading the team in most key offensive categories.

Twins 12th-round pick Zander Wiel, a power-hitting first baseman from Vanderbilt, hit his first professional homer on Monday for rookie-level Elizabethton.
