The Twins avoided arbitration with third baseman Trevor Plouffe, agreeing Monday to a $7.25 million contract for 2016.
Plouffe, 29, has slugged .426 over the past four seasons as the primary starter at the hot corner. His agent had submitted a figure of $7.9 million while the Twins countered at $7 million on Jan. 15.
With Plouffe under contract, the Twins have agreements with 14 players for a combined $98.71 million this season. Nearly $23 million of that went to their six arbitration-eligible players.
