ST. LOUIS -- Byron Buxton is hitless no more.
After making six consecutive outs to start his big-league career, the Twins' ballyhooed center fielder ripped a stand-up triple to left-center field in the eighth inning of Monday's 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Buxton scored moments later on Brian Dozier's sacrifice fly, but that wasn't enough to keep the Twins from dropping the opener of this four-game home-and-home interleague set with the team boasting baseball's best record (42-21).
Besides Buxton's breakthrough, Cardinals starter John Lackey (5-4) gave up just four other hits and a walk on a rainy night in which the start was delayed slightly.
