With Logan Webb and Robbie Ray the only two pitchers locked into their starting rotation next season, the San Francisco Giants are expected to show interest in Cardinals ace Sonny Gray this winter, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
The St. Louis Cardinals, who signed Gray to a three-year contract worth $75MM in the 2023-24 offseason, have had an overall disappointing 2025 season thus far, posting a 72-73 win-loss record. St. Louis still remains in the National League Wild Card hunt, trailing the New York Mets by 4 1/2 games for the third and final NL Wild Card spot, but with less than a month left in the regular season, the Cardinals will most likely be watching the playoffs from home this year.
