Bullpen struggles, bats stifled in Twins' loss

ST. PETERSBURG -- Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson pitched well enough to win Saturday night, but received little support from his offense and bullpen as the Rays ran away with a 10-1 victory at Tropicana Field.

Gibson (1-1), who was making his first start since April 11 due to the Twins' early season, weather-related problems allowed five hits over 6 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out seven. The Twins fell behind, 2-1, after Gibson allowed a two-run homer to Rays designated hitter C.J. Cron in the third, but Minnesota's starter managed to preserve the one-run deficit until the seventh.
