Minnesota Timberwolves show better shot selection in first game

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ new regime knew they needed to adapt to modern basketball that encourages teams to shoot threes and anything inside the paint and essentially eliminates long-range two’s.

Last season, the Wolves were 26th in the NBA in three-point attempts, with 28.7 per game. The year before that, they were dead last with 22.5.

In their lone preseason game this season against the Phoenix Suns, Minnesota managed to get up 39 attempts. Granted it’s just one game, but the coaching staff and front office have put an emphasis on playing with a faster pace and eliminating long two’s this offseason and it looks like they are truly committed to that plan.
