The Gophers women's basketball team made up all but one point of an 18-point deficit before ultimately losing 84-72 to Purdue on Thursday night in West Lafayette, Ind.
Purdue (14-2, 5-0) led 36-24 at halftime and stretched the lead to 18 in the third quarter before Minnesota rallied. The Gophers outscored the Boilermakers 25-17 in the quarter to pull within 53-49 entering the fourth. Banham scored 16 points and Wagner seven in the quarter.
Shayne Mullaney made a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter to bring the Gophers within 55-54, but Purdue did not give up the lead and sealed the victory with late free throws.
