Winning at the Barn extra sweet for USD's Minnesotans

Playing at Williams Arena was almost like a home game for South Dakota basketball coach Craig Smith and several of his players in Saturday's 85-81 double-overtime upset of the Gophers.

Smith is from Stephen, Minn., a town of 658 located about five hours north of the Twin Cities.

Two Coyote starters were Minnesotans. The Gophers started one -- forward Joey King of Eagan.

Wayzata's Eric Robertson finished with 16 points, including 13 points in the second half and overtime. Bloomington's D.J. Davis had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Rochester's Dan Jech also had six points off the bench.
