Richard Pitino gets $400,000 raise from Minnesota

Minnesota Golden Gophers head basketball coach Richard Pitino is set to have his annual salary bumped to $1.6 million, after receiving a $600,000 pay raise from the university.

Pitino remained with the Gophers this offseason, after being contacted as part of the coaching search from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Ultimately, Pitino decided to return to Minnesota, because of the positive environment and his strong relationship with the university’s athletic director.

“The thing that I love and probably my favorite thing on a day-to-day basis is working with Norwood Teague,” Pitino said, via the Pioneer Press.
