The Gophers head to State College, Pennsylvania today, otherwise known as Happy Valley, to defend the cherished Governor’s Victory Bell, which has been in the U’s possession since 2013, the last time the two schools played.
In fact, the Big Ten crossover scheduling has been so wonky that the two teams have only faced each other three times since 2009, which was the last time the Gophers visited Beaver Stadium. For context, in 2009 the Black Eyed Peas were chart toppers, the Sears Tower was being renamed, and we mourned the loss of Patrick Swayze. So, yeah, it was a long time ago.
