There will be no more broadcasting and certainly no more coaching. Lou Holtz says he definitely is retired.
ESPN announced this week the legendary former coach would not return because of a "mutual agreement." However, Holtz, 78, said Friday it was his decision to leave after 10 years with the network.
"They're always going to paint it that way," Holtz said in a phone interview. "I just told them before that I have no intention of coming back. I'm an old man. I'm going to be 79 on my next birthday (in January), and there comes a time when you have to step aside and let the young people do it.
