The way the Gophers basketball team sulked away to the locker room Saturday night at Williams Arena, you'd think their loss to South Dakota was the worst in program history.
Coach Richard Pitino warned his players about overlooking mid-major programs, which already had knocked off several Big Ten teams on their home floors. But none of the Gophers took it to heart until finding themselves in a dogfight that ended in a double-overtime loss.
"They're a lot more attentive when you lose than when you win," Pitino said. "They get it now."
The Gophers (5-3) had better come to play Tuesday, because their next opponent, South Dakota State, is better than South Dakota.
