In Gophers basketball scrimmage, seniors impress, but so do freshmen

Gophers basketball coach Richard Pitino was impressed with his seniors and a couple of freshmen in Sunday's maroon and gold scrimmage at Williams Arena.

Senior guard Carlos Morris led the Maroon team with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 78-51 victory over the Gold squad in front of about 700 fans.

Joey King, a senior forward, finished with 17 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Nate Mason had 17 points and five assists. Freshman Jordan Murphy also had 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for the Maroon team, which consisted of the starters.

The Gold team was led by freshmen Kevin Dorsey (20 points and four assists) and Dupree McBrayer (13 points) and junior transfer Reggie Lynch (14 points and nine rebounds).
