Former Gophers star Amanda Zahui B. was chosen by Tulsa with the second overall pick in Thursday’s WNBA draft.
The 6-5 center was predicted as a potential No. 1 pick, but Seattle chose Notre Dame guard Jewell Loyd first overall. Zahui B., a native of Sweden, was at the draft in Connecticut and hugged her family when her name was announced.
“”I’ll be playing against the best players in the world every day,’’ she told ESPN after she was chosen. “I’m looking forward to the challenge.’’
Zahui, 22, announced April 6 that she would leave the Gophers after two seasons and enter the WNBA draft.
