Gophers women: Minnesota natives Banham, Coffey star in UMN victory

The Gophers women's basketball team suffered a 21-point loss at Northwestern last year, but that was with Rachel Banham sitting on the sideline, out for the season with a knee injury.

Banham didn't get a chance to play against the Wildcats and their young star Nia Coffey until this season.

They put on a show together in the second half Wednesday night in Minnesota's hard-fought 95-92 victory at Williams Arena.

Banham, a Lakeville native, had 17 of her 32 points in the second half. Coffey, a Hopkins native, had 23 of her 27 points in the second half, including 19 points in the third quarter.
