Calling the football matchup between Minnesota and Nebraska a "rivalry" would have been ridiculous in 2012.
That year, the Gophers were pasted once again by the Cornhuskers, losing 38-14. Nebraska had run its winning streak against Minnesota to 16 games since 1960, with an average margin of victory of 31.5 points. It had become ho-hum.
Saturday, the Gophers (4-2, 1-1 Big Ten) will attempt to win a third straight game against Nebraska (2-4, 0-2) at TCF Bank Stadium.
"These past two years, it's an amazing difference," Gophers senior guard Jon Christenson said.
In 2013, the Gophers ended a 53-year span without a win over Nebraska.
