The University of Minnesota women's volleyball team is No. 1 in the Rating Percentage Index for the first time in 11 years.
The Gophers, ranked No. 4 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, were 10th in the first RPI rankings released a month ago. The RPI helps a selection committee pick teams for the NCAA tournament.
The Gophers' ascension to the top came after 12th straight victories, breaking the school record of 11 in a row back in 2002 -- the last time the program won a Big Ten title.
Minnesota (21-3) leads the Big Ten with a 13-1 conference record.
