Gophers junior forward Simone Kolander was named the Big Ten Forward of the Year on Friday.
Kolander, a Lakeville North grad, has 10 goals this season, six of them game-winners. Kolander was also the lone Gophers player named first-team All-Big Ten.
Gophers junior midfielder Josee Steiver and junior defender Rashida Beal were named second-team All-Big Ten. Minnesota also had two players named to the All-Big Ten freshman team: midfielder Molly Fiedler, an Eagan native, and forward April Bockin of Eden Prairie.
The Gophers (11-5-3, 6-4-1) finished sixth in the Big Ten, and they open the Big Ten tournament at third-seeded Rutgers at noon Sunday.
