EVANSTON, Ill. -- Gophers cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun won't play against No. 16 Northwestern on Saturday.
Boddy-Calhoun injured his right knee in the 27-24 win over Ohio last week. Coach Jerry Kill said Tuesday that Boddy-Calhoun will avoid surgery and he was questionable for Saturday's Big Ten opener. Boddy-Calhoun did not make the trip.
Jalen Myrick, who often comes onto the field in nickel situations, will likely get the start in place of Boddy-Calhoun. Craig James is also a first-line backup.
Boddy-Calhoun, a 2014 all-Big Ten selection, is tied for third on the team with 21 tackles and has added an interception in four games.
