CHICAGO -- The Gophers football team did not have a player named to the Big Ten preseason players to watch list released Thursday morning at the conference's media days.
A select group of media members voted for five top players from the East and West divisions. For the fifth consecutive season, a Gophers player has yet to make the list.
Two that could have are senior cornerbacks Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Eric Murray, both named in early July to the Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski watch lists for annual awards given to the nation's best defensive player.
Two notable Gophers exceptions last season were tight end Maxx Williams and running back David Cobb, each selected early in April's NFL draft.
