Can't blame it on Mitch Leidner this time.
That was the prevailing sentiment on social media during the University of Minnesota's 48-25 loss Saturday against Nebraska at TCF Bank Stadium.
In earlier losses this season, it was easy to point the finger at the Gophers starting quarterback for his inconsistency and mistakes.
In a 27-0 loss at Northwestern, Leidner was benched for true freshman backup Demry Croft.
But Leidner had arguably the best first half of his career Saturday, completing 16 of 17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. He finished with career highs in completions (26) and passing yards (301).
