Two days after hitting 12 three-pointers in a double-digit season-opening victory, the University of Minnesota men's basketball team's cold shooting nearly ended its 44-game nonconference home winning streak, the second longest in the nation.
The Gophers missed nine straight three-pointers and trailed by one point with less than seven minutes left, but they scored 11 straight to escape with a 67-56 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday at Williams Arena.
The last time Minnesota (2-0) lost a nonconference game at the Barn was to Arkansas-Little Rock 67-66 in 2006-07.
It looked like that might happen again when ULM (1-1) used a 16-4 run to take a 51-50 lead on Travis Munning's two free throws with 6:45 left in the second half.
