This offseason, Briean Boddy-Calhoun didn't coast through the last workday of the week with a TGIF mentality.
Instead, the Gophers' all-Big Ten cornerback created what he called "Football Fridays." He would arrive at the Gibson-Nagurski football complex around 5 a.m. for the team-scheduled morning conditioning workout and, on his own accord, wouldn't leave until 6 p.m.
With Boddy-Calhoun leading three other experienced seniors, the Gophers are projected to have one of the best defensive backfields in the Big Ten heading into Thursday's season opener against second-ranked Texas Christian at TCF Bank Stadium.
"(Friday's) the easy day (normally), but I make it the hardest day going into the weekend," said Boddy-Calhoun, who had five interceptions last season and was named first team all-conference by the media and second team by coaches.
