Gophers hockey swept by St. Cloud State

In a game littered with scoring chances, the Gophers couldn't keep pace.

St. Cloud State scored five times on its first 16 shots to take a 5-2 lead over Minnesota and held on for 7-4 victory and a sweep of the weekend series.

The sweep was the Huskies' first over the Gophers since Jan. 2010, and its first solely at Mariucci Arena since March 2001.

The seven goals were the most Minnesota (4-7) has allowed this season, and St. Cloud State scored five of them before the second period was halfway over.

The Huskies' offense was helped by a five-minute major and game misconduct penalty on junior defenseman Nick Seeler, who left the game after contacting the head of St.
