Gophers hockey: Offense finally producing goals

Sophomore Leon Bristedt said it's called the "ketchup effect" in his native Sweden.

"You try to get the ketchup out of the bottle and it doesn't come," Bristedt said. "Then suddenly it explodes and everything comes right away."

Bristedt said that might be what's happening with Minnesota's offense. The Gophers (11-10), who averaged 2.8 goals over their first 18 games of the season, have exploded for 15 goals in the past three games -- all Minnesota victories.

Twice in that span the Gophers scored five or more goals, including seven against Penn State on Jan. 9.
