Gophers go for glory, lose to Michigan 29-26 on last-second stuff

The Gophers' offense had surprising success against Michigan's top-ranked scoring defense in the first half Saturday night at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Gophers led 16-14, which is seven more points than the Wolverines have given up on average in their first seven games (9.3 points).

Trailing 14-6, Gophers quarterback Mitch Leidner connected with freshman wide receiver Rashad Still for a 52-yard touchdown pass at 4:17 in the second quarter. Still had a cutback and 30 yards after the catch for his first career touchdown.

The Gophers were playing for Jerry Kill, who stepped down as coach Wednesday.
