Eden Prairie linebacker Carter Coughlin thinks of one moment when he thinks about his relationship with Jerry Kill.
Coughlin reflects to the day he committed to Minnesota, when he pulled Kill and Gophers assistant coach Mike Sherels off to the side to inform them of his decision.
"Seeing the genuine excitement, joy and passion that he displayed right there when he hugged me and freaked out and ran around and that kind of stuff," Coughlin said, "that's an image that pops into my head every time."
It was the opposite of how Kill looked at his news conference Wednesday as he announced his retirement because of health concerns.
