Junior college running back Kobe McCrary gave an oral commitment Monday to be a part of the Gophers' 2016 recruiting class.
McCrary, who is 6 feet 1 and 230 pounds, received three stars from recruiting services and attended Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan. He joins guard Garrison Wright as the second player from Butler in the Gophers' incoming class. Wright enrolled at the U in January.
Last season, the Gophers were led by two freshman running backs: Shannon Brooks and Rodney Smith. They also have Jonathan Femi-Cole and James Johannesson on the roster.
Brooks and Smith will be sophomores, while Femi-Cole and Johannesson will be redshirt freshman.
