The postgame celebration took a weird turn after Gophers kicker Ryan Santoso hit the 18-yard field goal in overtime to seal a 23-20 overtime win over Colorado State on Sept. 12.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Santoso lifted his much smaller holder, Peter Mortell, into the thin air in Fort Collins, Colo.
"That moment when ... you realize some celebration roles need to be reversed," Mortell tweeted from his accounts, @PMortell37 and @MinnSpecialists.
It was a small example of the humor the Gophers punter/holder brings to social media. In July, Mortell was ranked as the top college football player to follow on social media, according to nfl.
