Gophers football: Defense dominates steamy practice

The Gophers defense forced at least five turnovers against the offense during Sunday's steamy practice at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex.

Redshirt sophomore defensive back Duke McGhee intercepted backup quarterback Chris Streveler twice during the first 11-on-11 session of practice.

In the second-team segment, starting quarterback Mitch Leidner threw two picks, one into the hands of senior safety Demarius Travis and the other to senior linebacker De'Vondre Campbell.

The offense's biggest play came on a 40-plus-yard connection from Leidner to redshirt freshman wide receiver Desmond Gant during seven-on-seven drills, but junior cornerback Jalen Myrick forced Gant to fumble and Myrick recovered it.
