Gophers football: Coaches to be paid their bowl bonuses

Gophers assistant football coaches have four-page contracts, and nowhere in the legalese is there a clause about the school declining bowl bonuses because of a losing record.

So the University of Minnesota will pay out $297,095 to retired coach Jerry Kill, his successor Tracy Claeys and their eight assistants, the athletics department says.

"I'm telling you, it's an extra month's work, it's an extra month's practice, preparing for game day," Claeys said. "It's in the contract and we were picked by the rules that were set forward, so that's my comment on it. I think they're well deserved.
