Gophers safety Antonio Johnson has advanced through the concussion protocol and could play in Saturday's Big Ten opener against Northwestern, coach Jerry Kill said.
Johnson was hurt while breaking up a pass in the end zone during last week's 27-24 win over Ohio. He will have further cognitive tests leading up to Saturday's 11 a.m. kickoff.
Cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun (knee) remains questionable, Kill said. Linebacker Cody Poock has practiced all week after hurting his ribs against Ohio.
