It wasn’t a public viewing but the Gophers got their first taste of high-stakes season action in a closed scrimmage against Iowa State in Ames on Saturday, as Minnesota beat the Cyclones 77-68 in overtime.
Surprised? I’ll admit I didn’t think the Gophers would have the cohesion to take down Iowa State on the road, especially this early in the season. But it’s a good start nonetheless.
First off, let’s be sure to take this game with a huge grain of salt. It’s a scrimmage, after all, and one that is basically the first real action the teams are seeing this season.
