UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Gophers were outscored 14-6 in the final 3 minutes, 46 seconds Tuesday night and lost 86-77 to Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center, remaining winless in the Big Ten Conference.
Minnesota's lack of a scoring presence in the post and the Nittany Lions' late run combined to send the Gophers toa historically poor start in Big Ten play.
The Gophers are 6-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play after starting last season 0-5. The last time Minnesota started as poorly in Big Ten play in consecutive seasons was 1966-67 (0-3) and 1967-68 (0-5).
